Sum of series : 1+1/2+1/3+1/4+1/5+…..+1/N

Write a C program to find sum of series: 1+1/2+1/3+1/4+1/5+…..+1/N. Here’s simple C program to find sum of series: 1+1/2+1/3+1/4+1/5+…..+1/N in C Programming Language.

Numbers in C

Normally, when we work with Numbers, we use primitive data types such as int, short, long, float and double, etc. The number data types, their possible values and number ranges have been explained while discussing C Data Types.

Here is source code of the C program to find sum of series: 1+1/2+1/3+1/4+1/5+…..+1/N. The C program is successfully compiled and run(on Codeblocks) on a Windows system. The program output is also shown in below.

SOURCE CODE : :

/* C program to find sum of series: 1+1/2+1/3+1/4+1/5+.....+1/N */

#include<stdio.h>

int main()
{
    int i,N;
    float sum;

    /*read value of N*/
    printf("\nEnter the value of N :: ");
    scanf("%d",&N);

    /*set sum by 0*/
    sum=0.0f;

    /*calculate sum of the series*/
    for(i=1;i<=N;i++)
        sum = sum + ((float)1/(float)i);

    /*print the sum*/

    printf("\nSum of the series is :: %f\n",sum);

    return 0;
}

OUTPUT : :

/* C program to find sum of series: 1+1/2+1/3+1/4+1/5+.....+1/N */

Enter the value of N :: 20

Sum of the series is :: 3.597740

Process returned 0

Above is the source code for C program to find sum of series: 1+1/2+1/3+1/4+1/5+…….+1/N which is successfully compiled and run on Windows System.The Output of the program is shown above .

sum = 0.0f; —> why we take f after 0.0 (line number 13) in below program…

#include<stdio.h>

int main()
{
    int i,N;
    float sum;

    /*read value of N*/
    printf(“nEnter the value of N :: “);
    scanf(“%d”,&N);

    /*set sum by 0*/
    sum=0.0f;

    /*calculate sum of the series*/
    for(i=1;i<=N;i++)
        sum = sum + ((float)1/(float)i);

    /*print the sum*/

    printf(“nSum of the series is :: %fn”,sum);

    return 0;
}
